FAQ

+ Q

I could do my laundry at home. Why should I drop my pants with Got Laundry?

A

Sure, you could do laundry at home. The average American spends nine hours a week doing laundry! But don’t you have better things to do? Take the kids to the shore—or do laundry. You decide. And because we’re laundry experts, when you drop your pants with Got Laundry?, we won’t shrink them, bake in the stains, or let them get wrinkled like you do. So why not get better-looking clothes and more precious free time?

+ Q

How long does it take?

A

Our standard turnaround time is just two days for wash-and-fold and three days for dry cleaning, but for an additional fee, you can get rush one-day or same-day service. See our services page for details and pricing.

+ Q

Are you going to lock me into a long contract like my cell-phone company did?

A

No way! You can sign up for one-time service or more. You can sign up for weekly, biweekly, or monthly service, and cancel it whenever you want to. Or, with our student packages, you can pre-pay for an entire semester’s worth of laundry. It’s up to you!

+ Q

What does 20 lbs look like?

A

Give or take:

As someone new to Philadelphia from the New York City area where wash and fold was so common it was scary to try a new place. Got Laundry was an amazing choice and I am so glad that I used their service. From the initial conversation to the delivery of my laundry everything was handled professionally and efficiently. My clothes came back in a new laundry bag looking great. I will definitely be using this service during my time in Philadelphia and would recommend it to anyone who asked.”

+ Q

I signed up for 20 pounds a week. What happens if my laundry weighs 24 pounds?

A

A charge of $1.89 per excess pound will be billed to your credit card. We’ll let you know when we drop off your laundry.

+ Q

How can I let you know about special instructions? My vintage sequined go-go dress needs to be dry cleaned, and my leather rock-star pants can only be washed in cold water.

A

We’ll give you a Bag Comment Card to fill out. Think of this as the most important part of your laundry—if it’s not on the card, we don’t know about it! Please tell us which items need to be dry cleaned. We read the manufacturer’s tags, so if any of your items has a missing or unreadable tag, please use the Comment Card to tell us how to wash it. If you need us to wash or dry your items at a certain temperature, tell us on the Comment Card. We are not able to wash or dry items separately or to air-dry items.

+ Q

I’m kind of embarrassed to send you my sexy red lace teddy. You’re not going to laugh, are you?

A

Your unmentionables will remain unmentioned! And your delicates will be handled delicately. Just place your lovely lacy lingerie in one of our netted delicates bags, and we’ll handle it gently—and privately. If you don’t already have a delicates bag, just ask us!

+ Q

Help! I’ve been abducted by aliens and I’m going to miss my delivery!

A

If you know ahead of time that you won’t be able to keep an appointment for pickup or delivery, please contact us as soon as you can. We’ll do our best to reschedule your appointment at a time that works for you. If you’ve already missed your appointment, get in touch! We’ll reschedule you—but we do charge a $10 fee if you miss your appointment without telling us at least 4 hours ahead of time. If we don’t hear from you, Got Laundry? will attempt to deliver your items no more than twice.

+ Q

I don’t have a laundry bag. Can I just use this wheelbarrow?

A

Use whatever you like—but when you get your first delivery, we’ll package your neatly folded, sweet-smelling laundry in a sleek, strong Got Laundry? laundry bag for free. If you need more than one, they’re just $10 each.

+ Q

I’m sick of smelling my roommate’s stinky socks. Can I sign him up too?

A

Of course you can! You have two options. You can share the Super Saver student package, which takes care of 25 pounds a week. Or, if he signs up separately, tell him to drop your name and we’ll give you a sweet discount. Everyone wins!

I have used Got Laundry when I was in a pinch for time. Their service allowed me to spend more time on other things needing my attention such as family/children. My clothes were picked up and delivery back in a timely matter with the utmost level of privacy and professionalism. There have been times that both my husband and I have had to rely on Got Laundry’s services and they have never let us down.”

+ Q

I just played the starring role in a horror movie. Can you remove these bloodstains?

A

We’ll do our best! We have been known to work wonders, but we aren’t magicians. We will do our utmost to remove tough stains, but we cannot guarantee stain removal. We recommend pretreating the stain with stain remover as soon as possible. If there’s a particularly tough stain you want us to work on, please let us know about it on your Bag Comment Card.

+ Q

I’m at the gym and on the field every day, getting sweaty and muddy. What can you do to keep my athletic clothes extra clean?

A

Don’t let sweat and bacteria build up in your athletic and yoga clothes! We use specially formulated, earth-friendly, bacteria-busting Sweat X detergent for many of our commercial customers, such as spas, gyms, and yoga studios. We’re happy to offer our individual customers Sweat X for just $3 per wash.

+ Q

I’m a secret agent, so I work unpredictable hours. Can you just drop my laundry off in the lobby of my apartment building?

A

Sure. We can drop your laundry off during the day, or set up a time that works for you. If you want us to drop off your laundry while you’re not home, you’ll need to give us a key or make arrangements with your doorman or super to let our driver in. Just be aware that you’re responsible for the security of your items (see the terms and conditions for the details). But hey, that shouldn’t be a problem for you—right, Mr. Bond?

+ Q

Are you going to throw my stuff in with some stranger’s dirty underwear? Because that’s kind of nasty.

A

Your laundry is personal! We keep it that way. We wash, dry, and fold your clothes separately.

+ Q

What if I have allergies or sensitive skin?

A

Please use your comment card to tell us about any allergies or reactions to laundry detergents or cleaning agents. We’ll do everything we can (such as using dye-free Free and Clear detergent or specially formulated Sweat X athletic detergent) to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction, but please be aware that we are not responsible for any allergic outbreaks.

+ Q

How does the pickup and delivery process work?

A

We’ll arrange pickup and delivery times that work for you. For a step-by-step guide, see our How It Works page.
